The Purrrfect Virginia Trip

Last weekend, before Sandy decided to take a giant shit on the region, I visited my main sister kittennn in good ole Charlottesville, Virginia at her new skool!

Tom and Kelly came along for the ride. and it turned out to be the PURRRfeccttt family affair.

After eating our weight in poppy seed, chick salad bagels at the one-and-only Bodo's Bagels, we skipped/jumped/flew/frolicked toooo0000oo...

......Our first event of the weekend: The Weatherman, an old-ass improv troupe. From Santa Claus sumo wrestling to Voldemort grocery shopping pantomime, the yes-anding was rampant and I wuz loving erry second.

Next, we perused the UVA campus (T. Jefferson this, T. Jefferson that). DONE.

Now we finally had some time to kill while Allie worked sooo it was off to exploreeee the ThRiFt Storesss. Haaiiii.

In a thrifty nutshell: Kelly tried on may furry hats/wigs and I walked away with a bangin leopard-Yeti coat.
Macklemore would be proud, ya'll

We capped off the weekend on a musical note and attended the The Virginia Gentlemen, an oyePAPI-hot-caliente all male a capella group.

And DiVeRsItY-2-BooT!

I don't know if this does them justice but it's pretty close:

Glad to see Virginia hasn't torn Allie to pieces yet. Keepin the fings crossed for the Frankenstorm

Calimocho Artsy Farts

Last night, TreyBabe and I had Noche De Arte involving a student exhibit at the GA Art Museum

HOW IT WENT...in 3..2..1

Treybabe arrived at la casa de horseys at 6:15 sharp. Gotta go, got-to-go, free wine. I was SOLD so we rush to Betty White (his golden cougar of a car) and speed down old Oconee Street in hopes that the Cabernet gods have not forsaken us and left a couple drops.

We arrive, bid Betty adieu and march in. The wine locust  (artsy fartsy regulars) are SwarMinggggg. We push and shove our way to the front to find that there are bottles on deckkk. Cabernet to thee we pray. yay. The bartender asks us to pick our poison and I see that they have coke, as well. I am immediately whisked back to the beach days of Barcelona. One succulent word comes to the brain!  I vomit it out I am so excited. CALIMOCHOOOO

Coke+Vino. Ahhhh.

But the bartender is not versed in the way of Spanish beverage and he gets skittish. Like a big horse. "Splash of cab and a splash of coke," I say to the good man. But he is shaking and sweaty and he screws the proportions. No ya estamos en Espana, Dorothy" Tisk.Tisk. We are left with coke-garnished wine. But alteast it is gratis.

Calimocho shenanigans aside, it was a cool exhibit. And Trey's friends had some great stuff to showcase. I snapped some shots of my fave three so if you know em give em a shoutout cuz these pups are seriously talented.

One CrEePy SpIdEr Included.

Finally back in ATH after a weekend full of fried-everything appetizers, bars chock full of people without knowledge of Lana Del Rey, and Margs on Margs on Margs. Where did I scamper off to this time you may askk? MiLlyVegAz or Milledgeville (if you wanna B BoRang)

Deeproots Festival was happening and the Givers were playing. Never heard of em before but I didn't hateeee it. Here's a snippit of their Funky Cosmic Tambourine-Feelin-Fine Sound:

So good to see some Milly loves. Kirste Layne you my gurl.

Although the festival was buennoo, after it was over things started to get ShAdy yalllll. There was supposed to be a key in the flowerpot outside where we were staying. Get to the house, like 50 flower pots and rugs to rummage in----NO KEY. So we were forced to fend for ourselves in the weee hours and basically this is what happened--Pat sat in dog dookie, Lauren was strangled in drunken affection by a man named Gurney (or Gurtchy or Guntry.idk idcare), and I was my nipples felt like African Blood diamonds they were so cold. Finally, we found a way in to the cottage and next thing I know I'm in a memory foam bed with magician themed sheets. #worththewait

Currently, I'm back at the stable and me and muh roomies went to the new FRESH MARKET! Free coffee samples andd s0oo friendly. Publix you betttah step up your game cuz they have cornered the market on a whole new kind of "shopping is a pleasure"

Once we got to the register, we met BIANCA the grocery goddess. Lowdown on Bianc: giggly mamasita full of sunshine and friendship, fierce minty nails, and a rapid scan speed that has got to be nationally ranked. She gave us free pumpkin salsa tastes and I hated it but that's not the point, she's awesome.

Got back and immediately started nommmmmminnngg on my goodies.
Triple Dippin Threat: Goat Cheese Crumbles, Salsa Verde, Garlic Hummus.
Papa is stuffed to da brimmm.

After the munchin it was straight to tha spiderweb decorations and minty smoooth facemasks (because who doesn't need a night to pamper themselves AmIRiiiiight?)  Also, the spiderwebs each came with a CReEpY SpIdEr (Creepy voice) !

Jessie Layne, we'll work on your spiderweb spreads.
Kate Bell, you one cute lil Amazonian white-face baby.

Jajajaja aint no party like a stable party cuz a stable party dont STOP. Nighty night

Meryl, The Danish Honeybabe

Watched Out of Africa tonight with my gurl Queen Meryl. Literally young or old, dis is one classy lady I can't get enough of. And even though she gets kinds slutty (eeek syphilis) in the movie, it's still a banging good time about a Danish lady in the African underbrush. Plus, Robert "Grin Dats Gonna Melt Ya" Redford is a safari huntin fox.

AlsoOooo, I went to my first Marketing Team meeting today at the Red&Black and it's shaping up to be a great gig. Natalie, my Bo$$, is gonna host an ExTreMe Makeover day for the office where we can decorate our little cubicles and get to know the team. PLUS: there'll be dOnUtzz!
Excited to get started.

Andd if you want to help a brotha out, download the Red&Black app that just launched! From Tennessee butt-chugging to who's that new electro-pop band coming to the GA Theater, it's got all your Classic City chatter. Also, it's got some sweet coup dealz for Athens and who doesn't love a good coup.

Oakie & The Acorn Itch

Twas a BEAUtiful day of sunshinee today and if you werent outside i pity theeeee!

Made JaMbaLaYa and took it to the Oak-tree shaded backyard where Katebug and I shot some hoops on the classic chain link bball net. cha-chang. After throwing airball after airball we decided to focus our efforts to a less coordination-requiring endeavor--CLimbing Old Oakie!  Although we saw a cockroach or two on the way up, we persevered and were monkey swingin in no tyme.

Also also, because fall time is around the corner, Oakie has decided to start sheddin his NuTzz. You go outside, acorn on the head. You drivin away, acorn dents on the roof. You eatin a picnak of jambalaya, acorn in your jambalaya. One or two nuts, whatever. but this is just bananas. Maybe Big Lou (The landlord) will build a big acorn net. MayB.

After the treeclimbing sunshine fest I went to the Costa Rica reunion at Hendershot's with Taylor Neighbor and there was free TRANSMET pizza. Munchcity. MunchMunchcity.

Also, I'm now on the marketing team for the Red&Blakc (local newspaper) whaat whaaat? Fridays the first meeting. More to follow on me gettin InVolVed N shit.  JaiHo

One more also,
If you haven't seen this-DOIT. Your video literacy and I beg of you.

Festival Feathers and The Wispy Pirate Wench

Back in Athens after a bubble-filled, BeAts-so-fresh, trampoline hippity hop TREASURE ISLAND TROMPATHON.

The whirlwind event in a nutshell---->--->

Woke up late on Friday after a night of Drinkopoly and Improv singing (in Spanish) about assorted platos de quesooo and immediately everything was in rambles. In addition to getting what I believe to be a tiny almond stuck in my eye, TicketMaster deleted my festival ticket and I had to coax a nervous, fiddling woman by the name of Sherry to send me another. Dayum, Dayum, Dayuummm Sherry!

Grimez.

After getting myself untangled, we were off to da island mon! Got there right as GrimEs (Meth Fairy Baby) was hitting the stage clad in feathers and denim jumpsuits to boot! After Grimes and her skeleton cronies were done baby yapping at us, we moseyeddd, sampling the musical electricity charged in the island air. Among the highlights were Tycho, M83, Divine Fits and SBTRKT.

~Top SoNg Performance = M83~

The gaps between music were filled with little feathers of fixation. Bubble Nets, Silent Discoing, Parmesan Garlic Fry Munchin, Headband Weavin, and "Om Charging" (Grouping in a circle and matching a collective increasing pitch til it reaches a volume explosion--AN IMPROVERSPARADISE)

Also,  during one of our many mosey sessions we were stampeded by a PiRatE PaRaDe. Among the scallawag lot, there was a stilted, wobbly pirate woman who was whispin her pistol at  ANY&ERRYBODY. Behind her was her pirate husband with their pirate baby in a peg-legged stroller. Yes, this is her career and yes the only thing that baby is inheriting is scurvy and a crusty eye patch. In the off chance this is your dream profession A MUST HAVE---Anna Pirate Costume Boots (Google Affiliate Ad)

----Also noteworthy, "Pirates" was being broadcasted behind the pirate parade on a jumbotron. Yes folks, twas "the most expensive porn every made" Pirates and it got weird, fast. The only person watching was Flavah Flave who, after performing (if that's what you call his crack-induced rant), retired to a weird tower constructed on the island where he is probably still living.

Missing the feather beauties in my festival troop more than ever as I settle back into midterm mush in Athens. Stay wispy San Fran. I shall come back for you sor sooooon!

Flour, Chinchillas, and Ruckus Ruckus Ruckus

Departed for the land of LaNkS this morning to the tune of 8am and was greeted by my trusty partner in trickery (K "Pashmina" Money) at airport curbside!
We hit the ground running with first things first--BREAD MAKING. Wheat-Toasted Sun-Dried Tomato never tasted so good. whoop whoop, delishh. Also, tried some local San Fran brews, ~Cable Car~, which were hiphoppitaay.

After our nomtastic bread bounty, we traveled through the Enchanted Broccoli Forest (name of Karrahs co-op residence) and down a Hendrix mural stair stoop. Along the way we met a Chinchilla by the name of Hannibal Lecter and fell in love with him. Literally felt like an air poofed cheeto. GET IN MUH SUITCASE.

NExT there was a campus rompus to be had! We traveled, and by traveled I mean mosied, on over to Rogley Field to watch some 100percent-made-of-paper machine Dodgeball (MeCh Engineering at its finest!) Cougz went with a scoopHANDS lightning chariot tactic. Didn't quite get the gold but it was still a gallant battle chock full of crashes, malfunctions, and HEADSHOT KOs.
We finished the day with a DISH hike and asked everyone and anyone to snap a pic of our love (bikers, magicians, hobgobs, Erryone). Dusty California Sunsets--tha best. Missing ATL pride :( but it's suiting up to be one for the books...and PART TWO: EL NOCHE is about to come. Then Treasure Island Music Fest tomorrow. Grimes Baby get at me.
